This coming weekend is going to be just a little busy for us here at Carlin, we’ve got three teams out racing and a championship up for grabs.
For our British Formula Three squad this weekend marks the final round of what has been another great season for the team. Jazeman Jaafar and Jack Harvey are both in the championship hunt while opposition comes in the form of Felix Serralles. And with just three races remaining it’s all to play for.
Jazeman currently leads the championship after a particularly strong weekend at Silverstone however the young Malaysian has a fired up Jack chasing him down for every point after a penalty-ridden weekend for him saw him fall down the order to third overall.
So with the championship finale fast approaching and two Carlin men up for the title, the timing couldn’t be more perfect for ‘delayed live’ coverage of all three races on Motors TV.
But this weekend we’ve also got our European F3 team out in Valencia and our Formula Renault 3.5 team out in Paul Ricard – that’s a total of eight races for our busy team to keep a track of!
Elsewhere within Carlin it was the final round of the GP2 Series in Singapore where Max Chilton had just been announced the reserve driver for the Marussia F1 Team. To add to his brilliant weekend he then qualified on the front row of the grid ahead of the Feature Race and took the lead into the first corner after a slow starting Luca Filippi failed to capitalise on his pole position. From then on, Max controlled the race extremely well and took his second victory of the 2012 season.
Here at Carlin we’re all extremely pleased with how our second year in the championship went and really enjoyed working with both Max and Rio, whose rookie year in the championship was impressive to say the least.
It’s not only the GP2 Series which has come to a head recently. Our GP3 team also enjoyed their most successful year in the series with Antonio Felix da Costa up for the championship at the final – and although he wasn’t able to snatch the title, he still finished an impressive third in the drivers’ standings. He, William Buller and Alex Brundle all had podium finishes throughout the course of the year and helped the team to third in the teams’ championship as well.
And that’s probably our cue to get ready to go racing and bring to a close another championship!
