Something very rare is happening this weekend. We’ve not seen it in months and we won’t see it again until August. So what is the rarity? It’s a weekend where not one of our five race teams will be at a race track.
But let’s start with the racing we’ve already competed in these past couple of weeks. It may have been wet and windy on Friday as pre event testing got underway for the most recent round of the British F3 championship at Rockingham but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits here at Carlin.
Luckily for everyone the weather did get better for the weekend’s racing and the Carlin team came away with a win in every race. And every one of our brilliant driver line up graced the podium across the three races we competed in. Jazeman took top honours in the first race while Harry and Jack clinched their wins in races two and three respectively.
Such a strong showing ensured that Jazeman now leads the championship ahead of Jack and Carlos while Pietro and Harry are tied together on their points tally.
Meanwhile back at base it was all systems go while the GP3 team geared up for their Valencia test. This marks the final test for the team before they take on the next race in the 2012 season, later this month, around the streets of Valencia. After two days of testing the team have gathered some great data and looked extremely strong around the Valencia Circuit with Will Buller setting the fastest time of the entire test.
The GP2 team are also preparing for their races around Valencia. Coming off the back of a great second position with Max Chilton in Monaco the team are hoping for another strong weekend in Spain to add to their solid 2012 season so far.
The Formula Renault 3.5 team have also recently got back from Spa where Kevin Magnussen took two brilliant poles and one stunning win in tricky wet conditions. Well it is Spa, what do you expect other than rain?!
And so although this week has still been busy for the entire team, as it always is, with no racing this weekend it’s time to take stock at how the season’s gone. And judging by the trophies which have been added to the desk after this weekend I think we can safely say that every team should be pretty pleased with the efforts so far.
