It’s that time of the year again; the new season is fast approaching, the new cars are arriving and here at Carlin we’re all preparing for the start of another great year of racing.
After a few short weeks off over Christmas, spent enjoying the calm before the storm, we’re all back and ready for the action to kick off. In the meanwhile we’ve got drivers to announce, cars to build and a factory to officially launch, not to mention the many hours of testing in the run-up to the races.
We had three cars on display at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham last weekend, all of which have won us British F3 titles. Takuma Sato’s championship winning car from 2001 was on display next to Alvaro Parente’s winner from 2005. 2011 champion Felipe Nasr’s car was also on show at the Sunoco stand – incidentally this chassis also saw championship glory in the hands of Jean-Eric Vergne, Daniel Ricciardo and Jaime Alguersuari.
Our 2012 f3 line-up is beginning to take shape as well, last week we’re pleased to have announced that Jack Harvey will continue to drive for us during the 2012 season and we’re also glad to welcome Harry Tincknell to the team. Jack and Harry join Carlos Sainz Jr who was announced last year – with the final Carlin line-up due to be confirmed within the coming weeks.
We’ve also had the very fun, if slightly daunting, task of choosing all the pictures for the factory and with so many to choose from it’s been extremely hard to pick which ones we want – and where we want them to go! But thankfully most of them are now up and they really do look great. Take a look for yourselves.
Apologies for the slightly wonky shots, blame the photographer – they sit perfectly straight on the walls!
It’s also been very exciting because our brand new British Formula Three challenger arrived. And as you can see from this photo, it caused quite a stir when it arrived last week!
With testing fast approaching it’s now on the workshop floor and our British Formula Three team are working hard on its preparation.
That’s just a very brief run-down of what we’ve been up to over the past few weeks! If you went to the Autosport show make sure you tweet us your pics of our cars or post them on our Facebook page – we’d love to see them!
