We’ve still not seen most of our cars back in the new factory, in fact only a few have been here, only to shoot back out in the blink of an eye for more testing. In fact the same goes for most of our mechanics!
After Macau the F3 team took a hard earned (and well deserved) break to relax and get over what is always a hugely demanding weekend – for every single team up and down the pit lane. However this week it was full steam ahead as they descended upon the factory to prep two cars for testing at Oulton Park where our preparations have continued for the 2012 season.
The Formula Renault 3.5 team have been telling us that it’s been colder in Motorland this week than it has in theUK– but we’re struggling to believe them! The team were taking part in the last official FR3.5 test of the season, which is also the last official appearance for the current car. We had several drivers in the Carlin FR3.5 cars, the first day of which was a ‘Champions test’ where Champions and runners-up from various junior series have been testing the cars as a prize for their successful seasons. It was a successful test for Jazeman Jaafar, Carlos Sainz Jnr, Yann Cunha, Felipe Nasr, Sergio Canamasas and Danil Kyvat who all had time in the Carlin car. Our 2012 confirmed driver Kevin Magnussen also put in a typically strong performance, despite having to sit out the first part of the test following his nasty accident in Macau.
Also in Spain this week are our GP3 team who have been testing with Tom Blomqvist and Jim Pla, both drivers have been out today, with Tom doing a great job to finish the first day P5. Jim will get another day of running tomorrow alongside Conor Daly who seems to have had a lot of fun with the Carlin lads judging by his Twitter feed over the past week.
Other than that, back at the factory we’ve been getting all of our photos printed and framed ready to hang. We can’t wait for this – the walls really need some great car pictures and we’re looking forward to showing you what they look like!
